Hobie Outback 2019

The Hobie Outback in its first 17 years had become the gold standard in kayak fishing and adventure. Getting to lead the team in a full redesign was a big responsibility not only for future sales, but for the massive customer base who had come to trust it for its ability to adapt to any environment. The challenge was adding features customers had been clamoring for while not adding too much weight or taking away from what made the original so good. More speed, a quieter ride in chop, shallower draft, easier standing, dual steering, more storage and mounting options were added for things like sidescan sonar, power poles, motors and fishing tools while maintaining it's versatility and paying aesthetic homage to the original. On top of this, we had to get it done in a shortened 7 month timeline.
